OFF WITH HIS HEAD!

Image
ACCIDENTAL NARRATIVES DEPT: Funny things happen when you randomly doodle on a sheet of paper. For instance, separate scribbles suddenly become a connected narrative without your even noticing it– and that's fun. I mean, who knew this unsuspecting fellow in the suit was just moments away from loosing his head until I realized where I'd placed him on the page :-) Prismacolor pencil on copy paper, 8.5" 11"

Filling up the page

I have a bad habit of continuing to doodle on a page until it is literally covered top-to-bottom, side-to-side. Don't believe me? Take a look: Prisma color pencil on copy paper, 8.5" x 11"

Not an Inktober submission

I started out to sketch something to ink up for Inktober, but felt positive that I would just muff it up. So– not an Inktober submission :-(

"Bond... James Bond?"

Here's sort of a caricature of a Sean Connery-type person :-) Prisma color pencil on copy paper, approximately 5" x 5" Here's the whole mess:

It's an Iterative Process

Sometimes clients just don't know what they want until they see it a dozen different ways; bless them. Here's another quick pen and marker sketch for our exhibit at the Fair this year, exploring the configuration of an entry area. Pen and marker on copy paper, 11" x 8.5"

Quagga Logistics

Another quick sketch for our State Fair exhibit. This one is better at establishing the scale of the cage and puppet. Pen and marker on copy paper, 17" x 11"

Caged Quagga Mussel

A little concept sketch I did today as a suggestion for our Quagga Mussel exhibit at this year's California State Fair. The caged Quagga and its guard would banter with each other and interact with guests. For the final presentation drawing I added suggested dialogue balloons and toned the sketch with cool gray  markers. Pen and marker on tracing paper, 13" x 18
